Cottage kitchens have always been a popular style of kitchen and they are the perfect aesthetic for rustic properties and farmhouses. We look at some of our favourite cottage kitchens from the last two years.
This recently completed kitchen showcases our popular Ebbor handleless kitchen door in Matt White and Cary Charcoal Flow. It’s a fun open-plan living space that blends minimalist design with characterful features.
We’ve posted a few photos of this kitchen on our Instagram feed but couldn’t resist exploring the kitchen further and showing off some of the finer details.
Our client wanted to make the most of their open-plan living space and has a passion for entertaining.
"I loved working with the client to create this design together, they wanted to create an open plan, inclusive space not just for themselves but for friends and family to enjoy."

This contemporary kitchen is divided into three specific zones: a kitchen, bar area and dining space with bench seating. This kitchen has been designed specifically to entertain friends and family within a beautiful open-plan space.
We used a two-tone mix between Ebbor soft matte white and Cary Charcoal Flow in handleless with a black rail. The worktops on both the kitchen and bar area are 20mm Classic Carrara Quartz from local supplier Duke Stone of Cornwall.
The coordinated bar stools contrast so well with the minimalist white kitchen doors and the vibrant orange walls. This clever use of colour shows how white cabinets create a clean minimalist décor whilst allowing bolder colours to shine through.
When it comes to flooring, we knew it was important to bring the whole area together with the same materials. We also wanted to keep the contemporary vibe but also bring some warmth to the whole space.
Oak laminate was a perfect choice! The wood effect flooring plays a role in bringing warmth to the kitchen and ties together the large open-plan space.
The bar area is the standout feature though and shows off the client's playful side. The foliage and neon cocktails sign bring so much character to this part of the kitchen. We can imagine how much fun this will be entertaining guests and serving cocktails from the bar. With its own set of optics and a dedicated wine chiller, we are sure the “Not Going Out Inn” will be a hit with family and friends!
As with any Kettle design, the main kitchen space has plenty of practical storage space. The tall larder units work perfectly and house a set of integrated ovens and coffee machine. The kitchen design flows so well and provides an effortless layout to cook up a storm!
The bench seating provides a final practical flourish with its lift-up bench seats. Great for storing away shoes, cushions or kitchen items. This large seating area provides plenty of options, whether it’s added dining space or just a great space to hang out!
"One of my favourite areas of the design would have to be the bar area - It’s a real focal point to the space! Our client added colour and texture through their accessories making this kitchen both modern and timeless."

We absolutely love the final result! This kitchen is the perfect blend of form and function. We can almost see the fun parties already!
